Could be difficult to guess from the given info - but pls. check page 314 and 315 in the Vegas8 manual.

It doesn't recompress DV clips during rendering...what you have there on
the timeline is probably not DV (avi is only a wrapper for dv and other codecs).
Or you have a filter on it you are not aware of.

Thank you for trying to help. Mention is made in the Manual of a 'Match Media' icon. Clicking on it did not help.
I capture DVCam via firewire. When I drag captured clips to timeline and play timeline, the video appears jerky. The Project Properties template is PAL DV (720x576, 25.000 fps) Audio sample rate is 48,000. 16 bit stereo uncompressed.

What kind of CPU do you have?
DVCAM puts no more strain on a system than regular miniDV footage does.
If your Preview Window is set to Best/Full, drop it down to Preview/Auto and see if that helps.
