No sound issue

I am rendering a AVCHD file to MPEG2 using Vegas 8 Pro, the Video File as well as the Sound File show in the time line, my options in the Audio menu are Stereo and 5.1 regardless of either one I use when the rendering is completed I have no sound with the finished MPEG2, I created a AVI file of the same project and sound was normal... any help would be apreciated

Be sure "include Audio" is checked if you want it in your mpeg-2 file. Otherwise, you will need to render it to a separate stream. You can't render mpeg audio as 5.1, it has to be a separate stream.

I knew it had to be something simple...Where exactly is the add audio option located? sorry for being dumb... but I am totally new to vegas....Never mind... I just found the "Include Audio stream " option and it was unchecked...Thanks...
