No video in Preview or Rendering

I think I worded the subject right...

Here is my problem. I can view video in the preview window if the imported video is in the trimmer. The video I am importing is a .wmv file is that matters. When I copy from the trimmer to the timeline section I can no longer see the video, but I still hear the audio. I can see the vid frames in the timeline, and I verified the Solo and Mute buttons were not pressed in any of the Track List boxes.

This may have something to do with my second problem. When I try to save my new vid (using the Make Movie button), I can hear audio but see no video in my saved files. I have tried to save as MPEG-1, MPEG-2, and AVI with no luck. I need the video to be in either AVI or MPEG-1 for my wifes Christmas gift.

Thanks in advance

If my husband would buy me jewelry as a gift I would be pissed off. I need a video station more than shiny stuff.

I appreciate the help guys (and gal). I uninstalled and reinstalled and all is right with the world! Thanks anyway!

BTW - I bought one of those LCD picture frames. It displays pictures as well as video. I think she'd like that better than diamonds (at least I hope so :) ) Now when she's at work she can just look over and see things that will make her smile.

I'm a new user. Had same problem with blackouts on video. After trouble shooting I found gaps between video avi files that I draged and dropped. Is there a global command that closes those gabs?

I'm also puzzled about the video overlay layer 2. I've got a jpeg on it and want to blend the photo over the video located on Video layer 3. When it works I lose the rest of the video.

Forum, please help me

Hi Zeke,
As for the gaps, if I understand your problem right, I believe all you need to do is click on 'Enable Snapping' on the top tool bar, and that snaps the events together as you bring them onto the timeline close to each other. If you are trying what I think you are on the other problem, you need to lower the opacity of the jpeg, so that you can see the layer beneath. Let us know if this helps. Cin

This Forum is great! I've learned so much since Christmas season. My 1st project is tieing together avi files shot with a point and shoot Casio camera.
I'm getting closer. I totally understand all the responses pertaining to all trouble items so far. My brain is about to explode from overload.
I'll get there in time with eveyone help for sure.
