No visual with imported AVI file

No visual with imported AVI file, but the audio works. The AVI file isn't corrupted since I can play it in Windows Media Player. What do I do?

Sounds like you are missing a video codec to decode the file. If you post the camera the file is from someone in this forum should be able to point you in the right direction.

have you tried loading the latest version of quicktime? if that doesn't work you need a motion jpeg codec.

My guess is your Canon avi file is m-jpeg. Check out this thread

Updating Quicktime did nothing. I downloaded the codec, but right now I'm figuring out how to use it.
