No .wav with my .mpg?

Hello I am a relatively new user and have created an .avi file in Pinnacle Studio 8, then read that into my VMS video timeline to output to Architect.

I have done this before and as I recall, VMS generates two files for this - an mpg2 and a wave file with the sound, both of which DVD Architect uses to make the final DVD.

On my current project, VMS is creating the mpg file, but no wave. I am on a different computer now, but as far as I can tell I am doing everything the same. If this sounds familiar or if you know of a setting I can check, could you please help, thanks.

You are right. The thing is you have to do it yourself, in three steps:
1) First render the video in vms
2) Then render the audio in vms
3) Next combine the video and audio in DVDA.

Good luck!

Thanks Ivan123. I tried that, but did not see an option to render just audio. In front of a different computer at work at the moment, but know that I could not find an option on the drop-down list to render to a wav file. Any ideas what I am missing? Thanks again.

When you select 'render as', there is a drop down list with all sorts of formats, Mainconcept being one of them, which renders to mpg2 files.
In that same list, I see listed Microsoft (wav) as well, besides other audio formats (mp3, wma etc). If wav is not in the list on your computer, it must be a windows issue. Perhaps rebooting will help?

Lawson, as another former Pinnacle Stuidio user, I welcome you.

VMS can render an avi file as well, in Make Movie use Video for Windows (*.avi) and use the appropriate template, most likely NTSC DV (or NTSC DV Widescreen).

I never render to mpeg, instead let DVD Architect Studio use the avi file to create the disc content.

This is much easier, IMO.

Thanks MSmart, will try that as well. Never did make sense to me to re-create from .avi to mpg, but thought I had to.
