noise reduction

There was a previous thread that contained a lot of interesting information about noise reduction. I am unforunately a beginner with VV and I found the steps to use virtualDub and other tools somewhat confusing. In fact, I even tried to use virtualDub on a captured file and could never get by the missing codec deal..

I am looking for a real simple approach.. Has anyone developed plug-ins using Sonic Video SDK to do transitions and or effects? This seems like a real cool way to add some additional effects(e.g. noise filtering) to your clips.
Are there any third-party plug-ins available?

Hi,

for using DV avi files in virtualdub, you need to install a video for windows dv codec, like for example mainconcept dv codec. One interesting idea could be if someone would develop a vegas plugin to use virtualdub filters directly in vegas video.

That is an interesting idea? There has to be some software weinie out there that has already thought of this and wrote up some code..

How does Main Concept DV codec compare to others? Is it worth the $50 bucks or
can I simply use the HUFYUV codec?

For plugins, I strongly recommend Spicemaster 2 from Pixelan...VERY powerful! (transitions and effects...)

hi,

that sounds really good...

one other usefull thing would be to write an output plugin that could frameserve from vegas. well just an idea, don't know if it would be simple/possible.
