NON HD! 9 mins of XM2 Footage : ACID + VEGAS 5 - Twilight Of SD?

(. .with all this terrifying talk of HD . . some of my stuff from last Friday . .

Some shots of very English countryside, during December. Quite delightful . . I gave myself a task to film this in the 2 hours prior to darkness. The other task for me was to make the most out of DoF and using the Zoom as part of a dramatic process. I was attempting to get the "layers" of the valley in clear enough definition .. think I achieved this . . All shot on my trusty XM2 with a wide angle .. maybe without it I could have got more lumens into the camera .. but hey . . I wanted to get a wide view .. . its 9 minutes so you've been warned! It isn't everybody's idea of a fun video . . Grazie on a reflective afternoon . .it does happen ..

Oh yes it also includes the ACID free lops of the downloads on the Acid Planet celebration site .. PLUS some of the loops that came with my copy of Acid Pro 4.

( EDited Title ... influenced by Peter Wright's thoughts on HD! )

English as tuppence!
A very beautiful project. I had no need for the sinister turn towards the end, although I felt it coming - suggested by the music I suppose. I'm collecting the free loops too, but have only listened to the first ten or so. Lots of promise in the Acid thing, but I am currently fighting with it over some midi issues. Glad to hear you're getting somewhere with it.

What I missed? - well if you didn't want people or animals on these shots (which you obviously did not), running water would have provided enough contrast to the otherwise rather still life.

And - probably because the word "valley" was mentioned - I'd have liked to get a better feel for the size (or the lie) of the thing.
But that misty/hazy shot you returned to several times, of the oaks(?) - the one you saw through the cobweb - I could have looked at that for hours. Very contemplative, very beautiful, very English. You should get out more.

Yes, nice piece Grazie. Like Tors, I noticed the effect of "threatening music" which gave the twilight a particular feel.

Be interesting to see how different the same footage would come across with pastoral music. ("Any ideas, Ludwig?")

Man the resolution seems so low. What is that like 800 lines of defintion or so? And did you decide to shoot that without the hypergain and CineTone gamma or does that camera just not have that?

It made me nostalgic for the 20th Century, though.

Buster, remember that the web version is only 320x240 and it's compressed to 256Kbps. Of course that version looks low resolution. I'm sure the original video is much more stunning!

Kind of made me think of oragami, asian art feelings. Pace, mood, graceful, simple images. Random associations I felt.
Very nice, Grazie. Darryl

I was waitng all the way through for the "Hound of the Baskervilles" to appear, and when you zoomed in on him, he was blurry.

Very nice though.
