Normalizing............

The knowledge base did not answer my question, because I'm running Windows 2000. The answer is for Windows 95/98? (Item #: 1135) I went to the views tab and the option is not even there. My guess is, NTFS. Why? Because even, the sound volume meter is not showing up on the Volume Control Panel, nor does it show up on my other programs. Nothing wrong with these programs, just different Operating Systems. When Normalizing it ONLY cuts out the top sections of the wav file, but the amplitude is still the same. 2 songs can be normalized to the same value, but the amplitude is different. (one song is still louder than the other) Can SF-XP v4.5d(build 328) show me the sound level while the song is playing, to gage the amplitude of that wav file? So that I may decrease the volume of the louder song. The above message is not exact, but I hope you got the ideal.

Please help.

All these are good, but it dosen't help me. The below replies are assumed that you know the volume levels or the dbs of each song, for normalization. Is there any way to see a live meter to gage if more normalization is required..........

Sound Forge XP 4.5 does not have real time play meters, but you can you get the statistics of the file by clicking Tools->Statistics. Also Sound Forge XP Studio 5.0 does have real time play meters https://www.sonicfoundry.com/products/NewShowProduct.asp?PID=460.
