not capturing audio

I am trying to capture DV from my camera, and Vegas will
not capture Type 2 Avi (seperate audio track).

Funny thing is, this just started happening. Been running
Vegas video with the capture app for quite a while and
never had any problems.

If I capture as one track (vid and audio combined), no
problems. It's just when I try to get Type 2 AVI. Noting,
no audio at all. When I try to drop the file into vegas,
it shows the video track no problem, and a little tiny
sliver of the audio track. But no sound.

I tried this on another system, as well. Same thing. It
is not the card or the camera, as MGI Video Wave captures
both tracks fine.

Any ideas?

I'm not sure from this post what you are trying to do.

If you uncheck "capture type 2 avi" (its off by default),
this should capture a file that opens perfectly in Vegas,
or Video Factory, or SF5.

If MGI software in any way factors into the equation,
(like, you are using their drivers, or are trying to use
our tools and theirs together) things get trickier- I
reccomend removing MGI and any of their drivers, unless you
absolutely need them for some reason.

thank you for replying. Let me be more specific.

Yes, unchecking Type 2 AVI and then capturing the DV does
work fine. It just leaves me with one track (audio and vid
in one track).

I used Vegas for 7 months with Type 2 AVI checked, and thus
capturing two tracks (one vid one audio) and love that
feature.

That is what was stopped working. When I caputure in that
way, I get all of the video, and a little sliver of the
audio with no sound in it. No sound is captured at all.

MGI has been on the system all along.

System is a dual 700 PIII, 80 gigs of Ultra2Wide, 256Ram,
blah blah blah.

I was simply referencing the MGI software because if I
capture using MGI's capture utility, I get both tracks and
I can then take that into Vegas and edit it no problem. I
would rather not have to use MGI at all...

Thanks again.

If it's a Canon ZR-10, you MUST start playback first, then
capture to get audio in a type 2 file. (Canon bug)

If not, what else has changed since your last working
configuration?
