Not enough room when preparing project

I am ready to burn my project onto a DVD. However, a message comes up saying there is not enough room in the folder when it is being prepared. Therefore, I cannot put my entire project on a DVD. How do I compress my project to burn onto multiple DVD's?

You don't. You just create two projects and put some of your content in one project, some in the other.

Sony had told me this could be done.

I think either "Sony" misunderstood what you were asking or you misunderstood what they told you. You can tell DVDA to split a project (if it's over 4.7GB but under 8.5GB) between two layers on the same disc, but there is no way to have it span a project over multiple discs. There'd be no way for it to know what to put on which disc.
