Not responding error, freezes up, slow rendering, and crashing

Jackson-Kiad wrote on 4/22/2025, 1:48 AM

I just bought the Vegas Pro 22 and have been running into problems with it by not responding, freezing up, rendering, and crashing. I have tried every solution on the books and videos from Vegas resources online, YouTube, and google and no avail. I would like to either have my version of Vegas Pro 22 downgraded to the earlier version OR help me fix the problems with my Vegas Pro 22 version.

Please provide your CPU, GPU model and mediainfo for the main types of media you use.
https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/faq-how-to-post-mediainfo-and-vegas-pro-file-properties--104561/

What are you doing when it crashes?

What does it say in the crash reporter when you click on "show problem details?" Windows Reliability Monitor may also have clues- type that into the search box in the start menu.

Do one of the known-good projects in my signature playback and render correctly?

I'm having the same issue with vegas pro 22 freezing and not responding. I've just bought a new powerful PC and installed programs fresh including V22 (I came from V15 and happily used CapCut for the past year). Since JK isn't following up on this post, I thought I'd add my info to see if you can resolve it. My computer details are in my signature and here is the mediainfo:

As for this question you asked, "What does it say in the crash reporter when you click on "show problem details?", well I don't know where to find that and when do you look for it; after you reload the project, because you can't do anything when it's not responding?

As for "Windows Reliability Monitor", I don't understand it but here's a snap shot of it.

I'm using the latest V22 (Build 250). I'm also using a Sony FDR-X3000 video camera recording in 1080p at 60fps. This is the Windows version I'm using fyi.

GPU acceleration is Optimal for my RTX5070Ti. Project properties as per pic.

This is my first project on this V22, so I haven't even got to the render stage, but I tried your " Fanmade Ad" which played back fine and here are the render results using GPU and CPU respectively:

I hope this is enough info to help me because I'd be annoyed having spend so much money to upgrade and having to revert to CapCut again.

having similar problem with Vegas pro 22. Mine sometimes freezes the moment the program loads! Doing anything at all has 5, 10, 20 second delays and sometimes crashes computer or program. Talking with Computer company now (via e-mail of course these days) to see if its powerful enough to run this program. I bought it new just for this. Hope someone comes up with a solution.

@Ken-Tonks if you can provide and list your computer specs in your User Profile>Signature like mine below, we might be able to give you an answer.

Also, start your own post. This is more about video issues, so we don't want to get lost in another topic.

Hi and yes thats me. I did not mean to chime in on someone else's post after I posted my own. Thought it would be useful that someone else was having same issue. However it seems like the issue is my computer not Vegas Pro. While I was posting here for answers I was also reached out to “Lenovo” who makes the new computer I bought off Amazon. They ran the serial number and said the upgrades to Ram etc. were not done by Lenovo. They said they do not authorize resale of their computers and people buy in bulk and do the upgrades themselves which often causes problems with compatibility. Warranty was void. He said 100% if I bought the same configuration from Lenova it would run Vegas Pro easy. He even pulled up VP requirements and said it would work fine. Recommended a tower next time though. Told me to report seller to Amazon which I did and they authorized a return. Anyone have a computer tower brand recommendation?

is a false statement and does not appear to be based on actual experience with VEGAS vs reading a specs sheet. There are bugs in VEGAS affecting computers with no configuration issues.

Aftermarket harddrives and ram are commonplace and not an issue.

@Ken-Tonks Totally offtopic - New Jersey was, of course, named after Jersey in the Channel Islands. A British territory which is nearer to France.

With your problem obviously there is something your system and VP22 don't like about each other. But anyway let's please continue in your own thread https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/vegas-pro-22-constantly-freezes--149019/
