not seeing my A1

Vegas HDV capture is not detecting my XH-A1. I can put the camera in record mode and the HDV capture will recognize it...but when I put the camera into playback mode for capture it can no longer be detected. I then hooked up my HV10 and it works fine! What gives? Is there something I need to do to capture off the A1? I'm pretty sure I've capture straight from the A1 before.

I can capture from 2 different HVR-A1u's but I can't capture at all from my HC1. I have asked the same question. I have tried hooking it up directly, through another hard drive, unhooking all other firewire devices, trying 2 different pci cards all without any luck. Although I can hook up the A1u and there are no problems, but I really wanted to use the HC1 to save wear and tear on the more expensive cams.

I had this problem as well.
you need to click on capture,then select the pull down button
next to prefs(upper left hand corner)Go to ieee 1394 and your canon
should be there.
