Yesterday I purchased the upgrade to Vegas 4.0 + DVD Architect 1.0. I did all that I needed to do to get the program up and running by putting in the activation codes. Much to my dismay, the Vegas 4.0 program did not open. I kept on getting those Microsoft error messages. Several times I tried uninstalling, reinstalling the program (it was like banging your head on the wall to see if the pain will go away. . . and the pain never goes away. . . it just gets worse!)
Well. . . I just spoke to Ted of Sonic Foundry about 10 minutes ago (at around 10:10 a.m. 2/6/2003). He was very helpful in providing choices in taking care of the problem. I have a couple midi/audio recording programs: Steinberg's SX and Emagic's Logic 5.5 (the Platinum version). Both programs require dongles to run their programs. Well, it's the dongle that goes to Emagic's Logic program that caused my problem. I have both dongles on a Belkin USB 1.0 multiport. Normally, things work fine. Apparently things don't work fine with dongle to Emagic's Logic and opening up the Vegas 4.0 program. (Interestingly, the dongle to Steinberg's SX works just fine with Vegas 4.0)
Never had a problem opening up the DVD Architect program.
So . . . for those of you own both Emagic's Logic 5.5 with dongle and Vegas 4.0. . . see if you have similar problems. If so. . . take out that damned dongle!!!
My warmest gratitude to Ted for his help and to the entire Sonic Foundry team for developing a really great program.
And. . . my warmests wishes to you all as you work on all of your video projects!
Cheers! :)
