Notloc may have hit on the 7c problems

There is bunches of reports of problems with 7c rendering HD here that has defied explanation as for some they see no problems and others like me who have had windows crashed trying to manage m2t files. Now Notloc posted that Photoshop wanting to be the editor for m2t files had caused him problems but no one followed up on it or even seemed to take him/her seriously, but following the idea that thread gave me I went into windows file manager and set Vegas to be the application of choice to handle m2t's, mpegs etc rather than other players like Nero or WMP11 and wow! My Vegas 7c error are gone. Renders m2ts like a dream. I don't know why this should be but I suggest the many of you who have reported errors with 7c/Cineform set Vegas to handle these file types exclusively and see what happens for you.
ControPanel>FolderOptions>FileTypes and select m2t and under "Details for 'IFO' extension" hit change and set to Vegas. Do this for all file types you are using in Vegas like avi or mpeg etc.

Thanks for the info. I didn't have a problem because when media player 11 is installed I leave all the file selections blank.

HI Michael,
I'm still desperate for a V7c solution to capturing, editing, rendering problems which continue. Ticket to sony support a week ago, no response..... so much for customer support!

I went looking for the settings you provide above and in the file types listing I don't find m2t listed....I do find m2v,mp2,mpv2 listed but where did you find m2t listed?

Thanks,
Teaktart

teaktart - with Sony's Pro level software (like Vegas), there is a free 60 day "Gold Support" plan where you can call them by phone for direct support. You have to "activate" the plan.

While this perhaps shouldn't be necessary, you might want to activate the support plan and then call Sony direct.

-Just a thought (hope it helps).

If m2t file type is not there you must ADD it. Under the File Types select "New".

Michael,
I'll make sure Notloc (Colton spelled backward) hears about your fix. He was pretty happy that he figured that out as it was driving him nuts. Hopefully, it helps others too.

I too have had strange rendering behaviour in v7 with some projects. I did different things to resolve them:
1) Deleted one .m2t file from a project.
2) Had two video tracks with ovelapping .png files. Combined the two .png files into one and used one video track.
3) Copied all events from a v6 project and pasted them into a new v7 project instead of opening a v6 and saving as v7.
4) Added the broadcast colors conservative Vfx (Idea from Forum re Soft Border Vfx issue)

If I run into any further problems with other projects, I will definitely give this idea a try.

Thanks for all the info on the file types, turned out I did have m2t to open with Vegas as the setting.

I'll give it one more work out tonight with V7c before calling tech support.....Each editing session has had it own unique problems and snags... I need to write them down

I'll keep you posted,
Thanks again,
Teaktart

Before you call tech support do all the good routine housekeeping like, check disk for errors, defrag, compact and defrag registry, virus spy-ware checks, windows updates, latesr device drivers etc. so you don't get diverted to do all this first; have it all done before you call. Make notes on how to reproduce the problem. This may be difficult as for me it is very random and I have not been able to pin it down.
