NTFS AVI File Size

I am considering moving up to WinXP or Win2K, and recently read there is still a 4gig file size limit in NTFS for AVI files, but I can't confirm this on the Microsoft site... I know that Win98SE and WinME have 4 gig limit for ANY file type, but I did not think the same limit applies to AVI files in NTFS....

Can anyone confirm or deny this?

I use WinXP I have captured one file about an hour in length. The file is about 13 gig. Hopes this helps. Oh and by the way I use NTFS.

That's one of those questions where the answer depends in part on how one phrases it. The specs set a limit for how large a AVI file should be. Note use of 'should be' as opposed to how big it CAN be. Depends on the applcation reading/writing the file. I've easily made uncompressed AVI files in both Video Factory and now Vegas Video over 40GB. Microsoft's Media Player and other players play them just fine. Of course you need to be running the NTFS file system. FAT32 is limited to 4GB because of file cluster limitations.
