I'm assuming the issue is the graphics card, but I will provide all of my specs and details. I am using Windows 7 64 bit and running the Vegas Pro 11 64 bit (Build 683). I recently upgraded from an Intel Core i7-920 with 12 GB RAM and an NVIDIA GTX 560 Ti, to an Intel Core i7-3930K with 16 GB RAM and the new NVIDIA GTX 680. Since upgrading, I have run into a few issues that never existed before.
1. During editing, the GPU acceleration doesn't work very well, or not at all. However, in preferences in the video tab, my video card is listed as an option for "GPU acceleration of video processing" so I assume it sees it.
2. Constant crashing, literally every 5-10 minutes during editing. There's no way out of the crash, waiting does nothing. However, the crashing still seems to exist even when I turn GPU acceleration to "off" in the video tab for preferences.
3. I can no longer render MainConcept AVC/AAC (*.mp4) without first switching "Encode mode" to "Render using CPU only." If I try to render using automatic or the GPU I instantly get the error "An error occurred while creating the media file... The reason for the error could not be determined." However, in the "system" tab if I click the "Check GPU" button it says "CUDA is available."
I would like to stress that I don't have any of these issues on my old computer or current laptop. Editing with my less advanced computers with lower end video cards with much less CUDA cores (even on my laptop with a mobile NVIDIA GPU) is way smoother and has hardly any crashes whatsoever when compared to my new PC which crashes constantly and is so slow. Exporting MainConcept AVC/AAC (*.mp4) on my laptop and old computer works with the GPU and is ridiculously fast even for 1080p footage.
Any suggestions?
