Nvidia support -- does Vegas 15 support the newer cards?

Doovie wrote on 2/9/2020, 4:27 PM

I'm using Vegas 15, and I'd like to buy a new graphics card.

From the posts I've read in various forums, it seems that Vegas favors AMD graphics cards.
Will I experience sub-optimal performance in Vegas using an Nvidia card?
I believe I will be buying a GPU using GeForce RTX 2060.

I don't do much effects work. Mostly cuts, dissolves and some titles.

System:
Windows 10 64bit
i7-4770K Quad-Core
ASUS Z97c motherboard
Current video card: ASUS GeForce GTX 760 video card, 2GB
I want to upgrade to: ASUS GeForce RTX 2060 Super, 8GB EVO GDDR6
32 GB RAM
Kingston HyperX FURY 32GB RAM
SSD main drive
SSD 2nd drive for work files

Support yess, but it does not help you for VP 15 to use a newer card, maybe worse because only the faulty Cuda rendering is a bit available and for the settings in Options/ Preferences/ Video it makes no difference for a newer card. For VP 17 it has a lot of sense because with the Magix codec with NVENC much faster rendering is possible and also the decoding of heavy files.

@Doovie @j-v

You're mistaken in that V15 indeed does support Nvenc renders as shown in the V15 RenderAs dialog.

IMHO the 2060 is a good choice with clear advantages over an AMD card if you are interested in GPU assisted rendering.

@wwaag

You are right. My fault, my mistake to look at version 14
