Unless you are willing to dish out a lot of money, you can't use the DVD video logo. By lots of money, I mean tens of thousands of dollars for each project you use it on. There is no restriction on the use of the letters DVD though, so you could find a similar font and just type DVD.

There aren't burnable DVD video blanks, as this format is pressed at the factory/dupe house with the information already imprinted, opposed to DVD+/-R, which uses a dye that is manipulated by the laser in your DVD burner.

Hope this was informative.

One other thing, the DVD Logo cannot be used on writable DVD's, only on DVD's that have been replicated.

I've seen burned DVDs sold with the DVD R logo... does anyone know if those are subject to the same rules / fees as the DVD Video logo?

According to DVD FLLC, it would appear not but I'd check the rest of the site to be sure.

Q.
We have an authoring studio. Do we need a License?

A.
Not if you are using no Format Books to author your products. However, there could also be NO Logo such as DVD Video or DVD Audio, on the discs. The only Logo that may appear on an authored disc is the Logo that shows the type of disc it originally was; DVD-R, DVD-RW, etc.
