A couple of good friend have a filming assignement in the Brisbane area of Australia.

The area is scrubland and they have one Sony Z1.
The temp will be 30C + with high humidity. (December this year)
I have said to be aware of potential tape problems due to the hight humidity.
And lighting problems due to extreme brightness (viewing images being filmed and overall brightness)

What sort of problems would you anticipate?

Snakes!

I'm not joking either. On the video side, for sure lighting here during the day can be extremely harsh. Shooting during the magic hours or else plan on using big scrims.
Keep the camera in the shade and the operator. Heat stroke is not be taken lightly and sunburn is no laughing matter. This country holds the record for the highest incidence of skin cancer.

are you fixed position or roaming?

i shoot long periods out doors (rural nsw), and have set up a regular beach umbrella on a cast iron base to cover operator and camera.

as bob say's, SNAKES.

humidity isn't a problem unless you make it one - ie, camera from air con car straight to outside - that's asking for trouble.

drink LOTS and LOTS of water. NO fizzy drinks, etc., dehydration is a PITA, and you wont notice it till it's too late.

good luck

ps. i also use a matt box carrying either a cpl or 1/2 ND. all that ever matters then is modelling on the talent - which disappears as the sun gets too high anyway

Thaks guys.

The 'set' will be fairly static. And available over the course of a few weeks.

One of the producer's sons lives on the land so should know about the snakes but good advice re dehydration and the sun.
