Offical VS Unofficial Info

Some of the posts in these forums have a little sonic icon next to the user's name. Does this mean that the person is a Sonic employee? Other times, the content of the post seems to imply that the user is a Sonic employee but there is no icon next to his name. I for one scan for these icons as a way of knowing what Sonic's official position is. I would apprecieate it if all Sonic posters (and MainConcept) poster would use this icon. That way we all can seperate fact from fiction!

So people who aren't SF have nothing valuable to contribute?

Quite the opposite from you, I don't always want to hear the company line on things.

i thought it was funny too, but i can see where he's coming from. for us, when we see that icon, it means we're getting the real deal from the horses mouth, know what i mean? it's not that other people's information isn't just as helpful.

but it puts y'all at a disadvantage since we know where you're coming from but you don't know where we're coming from!

it's awesome that SF folks are active on this forum... (not the case with many 'support' forums for other companies). it only serves to re-enforce that impression when you use the icons.

I did not mean to insult anyone. I find LOTS of valuabe info here. But sometimes I'll read a post that says "...and that bug will be fixed soon" or "the cost of the VV3 upgrade is xxx". In my opinion, a post like that would mean a lot more to me if the username was followed by the Sonic icon. I could then seperate fact was someone's opinion or wish list.

He's not saying that at all! He's just saying that it is useful to know when a post is from an SF employee. And I agree with him.

The only grey area here is that an SF employee may be posting on an unofficial basis (whatever that means), and so does the icon apply in this case?

I agree with everyone :-)

Sometimes you want to know the "Official" SF position, others you may not want to her company "propaganda".

Either way, the icon lets you know what/who you are dealing with.

I have GREATLY appreciated the individual responses I've received here as well as the unusually active corperate involvement, not found on many forums.
