Offline Media

Halihax wrote on 10/26/2008, 7:48 PM
I found out (I think?) that the reason this happened is because i had the option "Close media files when not the active application" checked off. I unchecked it, so i hope this doesn't happen again...problem is that the video and text layer are still offline... How can i fix this? Thanks...i've spent a ton of time on this video...

Also, only three of four video layers are offline though the Video Overlay is still working. I tried moving all of the video to the working layer and then deleting and remaking the other layers but they remained offline. Any help on getting my current project media back online?

"Media Offline" means you moved the clips, for example, from C: drive to D: drive, or deleted them. It will ask you if you want to search for them when you open up your project. If they're still around, just tell it where to look for them to get them back active in your project.

It isn't searching for the files when i open it...is there a way to manually do that? They are still there, if i move them to video overlay i can see them there but the other two layers will stay offline...

And by clips do you mean the vegas file? because it's all of the clips, both from my video camera and downloaded online. I haven't moved them or deleted them...

Have you added or removed a removable drive?

This can sometimes change drive letters and cause programmes to "lose" media files.

"It isn't searching for the files when i open it...is there a way to manually do that?"

In the "project media" tab, if you right-click the desired media and select "replace...", you can choose a file to replace that media.

No way to manually make it search for them?

edit:
When i explore the folder and try to watch the .m2ts file it says "C:\Documents and Settings\etc.etc...m2ts... is not a valid Win32 application." I'm guessing this is the problem. Any solutions?

As you can see ONE video layer is not greyed out and i can actually move the "media offline" videos onto that Video Overlay layer and they show again! I thought I could fix this by adding new layers and just moving them to new layers but every new video layer i add is greyed out! :[

It looks like you have video track 2 solo'd (the exclamation point is clicked). This means that is the only track that is visible and all the other video tracks are disabled. Try unclicking that exclamation point and see if that fixes your problem.
