OFX Preset location

I'm using Vegas Pro 16 on an office PC. In brief, I want to know how I tell ofx plugins where to look for presets. This is because I am using a work PC and it forces local files (like new plugin presets) to be saved on a shared network folder, but Vegas doesn't know that folder exists, so it doesn't check for new presets in the right place and my presets never appear on the plugin drop down.

For instance, on the titlesandtext plugin. It comes with a set of basic presets - earthquake etc. I have found the xml file with those presets in, and if I edit the XML, I can add new presets. But that is very clunky.

There must be a way to tell vegas where to look for new presets. It must be in another xml file somewhere. Currently it tells Vegas to load presets from the XML file I found, so I must be able to tell it to look in another place.

Does any of that make sense? I'm sorry if I've not explained it well!

Given that you are on an office set up, you really should put this question to your office's tech people. While there will be lots of people here on the forum who will know where the relevant OFX directory exists on a single use computer, where a particular OFX directory exists on a corporate computer system, your company's tech staff is really where you need to address your question.

The presets you make yourself are always stored at ?? :\My Documents\OFX Presets\......

The default location of that file is on a default Windows Install always at C:\Users\username\.... but I never follow that default install and change always inmediatly that location to my data location on another disc or partion.

Thanks. I understand your point, but sadly my local support can't change my pc settings, so I'm stuck with this problem. However, it's my copy of Vegas, so I think telling it where to look for ofx presets would be another solution.. Maybe!

@j-v thanks. How do you tell Vegas where to find local presets if you move them from the default location?

j-v wrote on 3/13/2019, 8:34 AM

What do you mean by local presets?
Vegas presets cannot and must never be moved, because all default presets are always present in Vegas software.
If you want to store your self made customized presets on an other computer not owned by you, you have to make a project at home and put all your self made customized presets into it and save that project. That project you have to open on the other PC and store your earlier customized presets there with its own name trough the normal way for storing customized presets through the map symbol.
