OFX Presets location

Rob-McMillan wrote on 9/22/2022, 12:21 PM

For all the years that I've used Vegas, the "OFX Presets" folder location has been located in my C:\Users\Rob\Documents folder. But for some reason, on my computer at work, it's saved in C:\Users\Rob\OneDrive\Documents. Notice how instead of saving the presents on my local computer, it's putting them on Microsoft OneDrive. Does anyone know how to change this directory so they match? I've tried looking in Preferences, even looking in the INTERNAL preferences settings...no luck. Perhaps it's somewhere in the system registry?

Both versions of Vegas are 20.0, and both computers are identical Dell XPS 15s.

Any ideas?

Thanks

1.Exit OneDrive First
2.Create an OFX preset and save
3.Check if you saved in the correct location

I tried. It does not work. It still wants to save all of my presets on the documents folder on my OneDrive, not the local documents folder on my computer.

@Rob-McMillan In Windows 11, the "Documents" location is in "OneDrive". I turned off OneDrive (so it wouldn't try backing up everything I put in "My Documents" to the cloud) but have come to the conclusion that's where they're going to be. I do have a standard Documents that is not in OneDrive but I suspect that's from other programs that aren't looking at the Windows "My Documents" location.

My only thought would be if you told Windows that "My Documents" was not in the "OneDrive" folder?

Desktop icons/pictures/documents are set by default to save to OneDrive, but that can be changed - please see:

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/files-save-to-onedrive-by-default-in-windows-10-33da0077-770c-4bda-b61e-8c8e8ca70ac7

I'm not sure that this is the way that I changed the setting (a year ago or so) but user OFX presets do save to a documents folder so changing the documents save destination should fix the OneDrive folder problem (and yes, it is a nuisance in my opinion).

So I figured it out.

My windows documents folder was set to go to OneDrive, and not my local drive. The only way for me to change it was to go into registry editor (I found some tips online) and make some changes. A quick restart, and everything was normal.

Thanks!
