Oh no my first VV7c blue screen crash

Vegas (VVc) just crashed with the following message:

A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer

Driver_IRQL_Not_Less_Or_Equal

etc. etc.

MFWAWAVE.sys
Beginning dump of physical memory
Physical memory dump completed. etc. etc.

Glad I was saving every couple of minutes. :o) Any way, do you know what this error message means or what causes it? I was kind of clicking/jumping around rather quickly. Perhaps I was moving too fast. I had a few layers of hdv tracks going.

One of the things it said was "stop:" and the last group of letters and numbers was "0xB8BED59C" so I saw the word BED in there and decided my computer was telling me it was time for bed. haha zzzzzzz Thank you. Derek

When you google this error, it could be a hardware or software generated. Hardware like processor overheat, or ram and most often was found to be software driver issue.

Looking at your information I suspect the MFWAWAVE.sys is a driver of some sort actually causing the error.

I have a the A8N Sli deluxe MB with the Athlon 64 4800 and scanned my system and did not find a MFWAWAVE.sys.

There's only 6 hits googling on the sys driver, & it appears to be MOTU Firewire Audio.

Suggestion would be, if you're not using it at the time, to make sure audio device in Vegas is set to plane ol' MS Mapper. OTOH If you don't have anything in Vegas set to use it, might try disabling it in Device Mgr if it shows up there, or if it shows up as a service, try setting it to manual if it's automatic. If you were using firewire at the time, might take a look at your other firewire drivers for updates etc.

Or since it seems pretty rare to cause any problems -- after all just 6 hits on google -- just wait and see if it ever happens again.

You guys are great! Thank you. Yes, I have a relatively new Motu Traveler that I use as my sound card. I got rid of my old 828. I will see if there are any updated drivers for it on the motu site. All the stuff in the error message looked like gobbly gook to me. That's why I posted it here hoping you could help and you did as always.

Once again...favorite thing about VV is this forum. :o) Derek
