You'll probably have to wait until Monday. Anyways Vegas 7 was released at IBC last year. I won the first copy!

Oh thanks Xander...thought last year was at NAB...

I realise Monday is D-Day...but surely once the cat is out of the bag, someone can spill the beans....

"...wait the entire weekend?"

Apparently so. Did you not get the memo? Err, Email?

The regular newsletter email. It had an "Introducing Vegas Pro 8" section at the top which had a paragraph saying:

The Vegas Pro 8 collection will be shown at IBC 2007 in Amsterdam beginning today and will be available for purchase from Sony Creative Software as well as retailers worldwide September 10, 2007.

That email also introduced a couple new Cinescore themes and at the bottom linked to an article (press release) specificly on the new Vegas Pro titler. http://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/news/article.asp?articleid=37

(In case anyone out there didn't get that email.)

Mike:

It is like the excitement of Christmas morning for the kids......

Is it time to get up? Has Santa been yet?

It is truly a marketer's dream to get everyone excited and anxious to drop the first order payments into their system.....

Is it Monday yet? Let's see........., if I ordered from the international dateline (or whatever it is called), when it is Sunday here, it is Monday there... So, could i order Sunday?

I'm not excited in the least.

I did not just buy a new HP A6040N Core 2 Duo computer and then pull a late nighter installing max memory, second hard drive, power supply and nVidia 7900 GS OC and hooking it up to my brand new 42" 1080P Vizio HDTV with a DVI to HDMI cable.

Yawn, I could not care less ;-P

I've been ready for about 2 months! New machine, new OS... I've even been stockpiling my projects...4 hours of tape to edit and burn.... AND NOW.... I have to figure out how I'm going to count the minutes ALLLL the way to Monday.

It's pretty funny to observe ourselves here as the date for V-8 release approaches (Sept. 10).

--- Many of us are kind of acting like those news clips about women piling up at the door of a department store, salivating for the chance to get a jump on the weekend sale on linens, dresses or bridal gowns -- lol.

--- Or nerds lining up for the latest gizmo, play-station or... iPhone.

Let's try not to break the plate glass doors, shall we? :)

The timing isn't exactly perfect for me - I'm off to Europe today for 5 weeks, so although I'll buy V8 next week to take advantage of the limited time upgrade offer ..... I won't be downloading it till October.

Consolation - a first real-life meeting and a few pints with Grazie in a couple of weeks time.

I have to say, Vegas 8 Pro must be the best release of Vegas since Vegas 4. That's how long I've had Vegas and everybody seems to be excited this time versus bitching about everything.

I'm of to Hawaii on Tue, so not good timing for me, but unless the wings fall of the plane or something else happens, I'll be coming back to Vegas.

Yep, I agree - I'm kind of excited about this release... V5-6 were yawners, V7 with the blue snapping lines was kind of cool.. hmm finally we get a titler in V8, let's see what they did with it...and multicam.

I think they were worried about losing a lot of ground to premiere pro and other NLEs, so I have a feeling they *got it right*, at least this is likely a REAL upgrade, from V4, finally...

Looking forward to this one, it looks from what little I've seen, that this will be a decent upgrade for Vegas...

hey woops I coulda had a V8! oh ok waiting til monday... :p

Besides the 32 bit color space, I'm super-duper excited about the new name!

Vegas 8 Pro! It has the same number of syllables as Apple's product so people are sure to start taking it seriously!
DSCalef wrote on 9/7/2007, 9:33 PM
I have been calling it Vegas 8 Pro, too.

According to the Sony email, it is Vegas Pro 8. Which, I guess in the grand scheme of things is better.

I had a client buy the "middle" Vegas produt yesterday. Which was Movie Studio Platinum. I had to explain he wasn't in the same ball game. I found him Vegas 7 for under $300 that I bought for him.
