Ok to have both V4 and V5 on same pc?

Ok I'd like to try running Vegas 4 and 5 on the same pc for awhile to see the differences, before "committing" to upgrading to V5, in case I don't like V5 and it's numerous bugs that have been posted.

Question: Can I install both versions on the same PC without any conflicts?

eg copy V4 to another subdirectory, and then upgrade it, so I have both V4 and V5 available?

Yes. I've got both working on my edit MONSTA! - no problem.

BUT, open a V4 project in V5 and you HAVE to save in V5. . no going back! . . .

really? What a crock... other software like macromedia flash etc let you "save as" flash 4/5 etc, not just current platform versions ..

V5 bah. I need to try it, but I'd still like to wait for 6..

thanks for letting me know, just want to make sure it doesn't 'permanently upgrade 4" and I can't use it as well, eg w/registry entries it will rewrite for upgrade etc..

. . . er, I didn't say " just want to make sure it doesn't 'permanently upgrade 4" . . as far as I can tell V4 just sits there oblivious of V5 . .and vicer-verca . . up to you Ken.

I think what Grazie means to say is that if you open up a V4 .veg file in V5 and save it, it will no longer open in V4. And even if he doesn't mean to say that, i do. So the moral of the story is, before you start experimenting with Vegas 5, make copies of your V4 veggies and only experiment on the copies!
