Old none DVDA menu

I'm working on a 10 year old DVD (Authored originally in DVD Workshop). What I'm doing is cleaning up the video as software has progressed massively to enable me to do that now. I have 'captured' the original menus too, but obviously the buttons are now part of the video. Is there a way to make 'invisible' buttons over the top of the originals in DVDA?

How did you "capture" it and still maintain the menu pages at all?

Downloading the VOB files from the disc would give you the video but not the menus.

So don't you have to recreate the menu pages completely?

The menus were 'motion menus' so the capture (Using the *.ifo method) has captured them as videos.

So do they work like menus? I mean, do they stay onscreen until someone makes a video selection?

And, if so, why don't the buttons work?

I'm just not aware of any way to "capture" video from a DVD and still have functional menus.

Can you describe the process you used?

If I understand correctly, you should be able to re-use the menu clips by placing the media in new menus, superimposing DVDA buttons over the old ones, and making the Color Sets all transparent.

No Steve, the buttons don't work because it's captured as a 'video'. Captured as this thread:

The *.ifo method captured the menus, but the DVDS method captured the full video.

Musicvid has hit the nail on the head. How do I superimpose DVDA buttons over the existing ones?

The same way you would add a button to any DVDA menu -- click the "Insert Button" icon.
;?)

Ahh yeah...didn't explain properly. I meant the same looking buttons, which is why I was thinking of 'invisible' buttons over the top. But I guess it's just easier to use different ones if I can find something that suits the menu.

Well, you can always use text-only buttons and make the text transparent.

Though I honestly think it might be easier to just use a capture of the video and recreate the menus from scratch, using the capture as your background.

Musicvid's instructions will insert an empty button, which can then be given any desired action.
