Old Vegas 4 licenses needed for 9th grade class

Well, I started my new job today. In planning my semester, it appears that i will indeed be able to teach Vegas to my 9th grade kids. I know once before, someone mentioned that they would be happy to donate their license for Vegas 4 and DVD Architect 1.

I curently have 18 workstations that would need licenses (not counting my old Vegas 4 license.)

The plan is to have the students video the various projects they do in class and then use that footage to teach them to cut and edit in Vegas and then have them make a DVD to take home and share with their parents.

So if we could get 17 generous people to donate their license, I would be forever grateful. Also, if anyone has Spot's or Gary's trainign DVD that they would like to donate as well, I would be fortunate for that.

Seeing how I have no budget to work with as I am replacing a retiring teacher that taught from books dated 1991, donations would be greatly appreciated. If compensation is required, hopefully we can work something out, however, remember that I am working on a teachers salary as well.

Thank yout to all who contribute and to those that cant. Its the thought that counts. God bless.

Patrick

B_JM:

Yes it's legal to sell or give away your Vegas 4 license if you upgrade to 5. The only stipulation is that you must send an accompanying letter giving over to the new owner the authority to register it.

Oh, and the new owner can't uprade to ver. 5 if you already have.

Cheers,

Andy

Thanks to all who wish to donate. Seeing how our school only upgrades every 4 years, I think we will be ok at least until I get a new budget to work with.

These kids will have so much fun this year :)

I"m interested--what subject do you teach and if its not in the arts or computer tech, how are you going to use video to accomplish educational goals? (I have an advanced degree in educational technology and am real interested in what's going on in the classroom!)

If you haven't already I would write Sony under your school district letterhead explain your project and see if they come up with some freebies. In never hurts to ask. The worst they can say is no.

Rex,

I teach Computer Technology Education here for Orange County Schools. The plan is to have the students video tape the various activities that we do during the year (i.e web design and planning, database, robotics, flight simulator etc...) and incorporate that into digital video which will allow the students to learn how to edit, color correct, etc... for web multimedia and also allow them to output to DVD to share with friends, families, and for open houses.

Unfortunately, I have 18 workstations with two members per team that follows the old addage, " must bring enough for everyone" as having a higher number of team members will not allow all of the team members to contribute each class that only lasts 50 minutes.

If you have any other questions or wish for me to explain in further detail, contact me at the email above and I will provide you with my number here at school and we can discuss it further.

Sincerely

Patrick

Why not contact sony, may make you a deal on screenblast , it would be ideal to hook the next generation on vegas.
