Further to track audio export question...
three studios now have asked for an OMF file for audio from Vegas. I can't see this type of file anywhere within Vegas.
Vegas does not support Open Media Framework (aka, OMF) import/export, though it sure the f--- should (another reason why I'm consideriing jumping ship on Vegas and other Sony products... among the bugs the limited support of broadcast wave files is another aggravation .)
Your options are Advanced Authorinig Format (AAF), or a convert utility. The cheaper of the two I know of is; EDL Convert from Cuibono Soft, about $250usd . A 30 day limited function demo is available. http://www.cuibono-soft.com/home.html
The other is about eight hundred f---ing dollars. I forget the name of that one.
EDL Convert Pro from Cui Bono Soft works well with Vegas. You can import and export Vegas xml files via a script supplied with the software. EDL Convert will translate between Audition, Vegas, ProTools along with a number of other programs.
The Broadcast Wave support needs to be examined.
No Vegas won't export a BWF file but I use ProTools 6.9 HD set up to work with Broadcast Wave. The amazing thing is that it just names the files with a normal .WAV extension. They are Broadcast Wave though and guess what. Vegas doesn't know the difference and opens them directly. I don't need to use the import Broadcast Wave menu item.
From ProTools I can export an OMF or save the ProTools session as ProTools 5, open either the OMF or the PT5 session in EDL Convert. Export it to a Vegas script and then import it into Vegas.
I have volume curves and panning in place.
I can easily open any AVID Media Composer OMFs using EDL Convert and translate them to Vegas Script.
From Vegas I can export an XML and media and in EDL Convert create an OMF 2.0 file.
No I use a script that is supplied with EDL Convert. It produces an XML file that EDL Convert reads and it includes volume curves in it.
EDL Convert supplies two scripts for Vegas, one for import and one for export.
