VP used to have AAF export/import. In my experience it was not reliable.
VP never did support OMF and likely never will, The third-party converters I have used worked good for converting to/from Vegas. I currently have AATranslate... though the last time I used it was with VP-16..
@rraud yeah, I've seen several comments that AAF is done and gone, but none from anybody at Magix that I"m aware. It really needs to stay a part of Vegas. My workflow for years, when I choose to work in Vegas, is to open OMF or AAF in ProTools, save as new AAF, then import that into Vegas. Now I have to open four applications:
1. ProTools. Open OMF or AAF. Export as new AAF (uncheck the box "preserve Media Composer...."
2. Open Vegas 11. Import new aAF.. Save as vegas project.
3. Open Vegas 20. Open .veg, go to work.
4. OR, if I"m pulling a new OMF/AAF into an existing project, then I have to open a 2nd copy of Vegas 20, highlight the tracks I need, copy and paste them into my actual Vegas 20 project.
Bring back AAF import would save me two steps (and time). AATranslate is something I used years ago, and it's still 200 bucks to buy it now, so I'd rather not spend the $$. My vote is to BRING BACK AAF IMPORT, as imperfect as it was.
If you have previously purchased AATranslator even if it was years ago you do not need to purchase it again - you should have received regular updates in that time - if not then send an email and request a link to the latest version.
Emergency update on AAF import: Today for some reason, my copy of Vegas 11 (64bit) no longer has AAF IMPORT on the IMPORT submenu. It's just not there. I uninstalled and reinstalled it, and nothing. It's been there for years. I used it just a few days ago. Nothing's changed on my end. My PC hasn't updated from msft that I'm aware of in the past few days. Help!
