I've posted a question on this topic before and asked Spot at the VASST training day last week but the answers I've received on the forum have indicated that this problem isn't easily fixed and Spots answer at the forum I can't get to work.
I think it was probably becuase I didn't explain the problem clearly so I'll try again.
When exporting an OMF from any editing system or DAW all audio tracks are treated as mono. The stereo tracks are split into their component left and right tracks and appear as two separate tracks.
If I import an OMF into a program like ProTools I can drag the subsequent two mono tracks onto a stereo track and they behave, edit and playback as stereo.
In Vegas I get the mono tracks but can't combine them onto one track as stereo without going through a render process. If I do render them I lose any volume information that related to the tracks from the OMF, or worse render the volume curve into the audio.
I can group the tracks but I then end up with two faders on my Mackie mixer for what should be one stereo track.
Is there any elegant work around for this problem?
