ON TOPIC! Where is the Dunces Hat? 44kHz <> 48kHZ ! !

For all of you that have tried to help me, and those who have been rubbing their chins and for those of you who have been rolling their eyes heavenwards - my sincerest apologies!

OK: Be warned! I was sampling 44kHz samples within a Project I HAD SET at 48kHz. Scrub and the World is okay. Somebody will tell me why now . .won't they? I guess my V6 was attempting to Sample-UP the 44 to 48 and in the interim the maths being done was producing this stuttering.

I WAS correct, something within V6 was different. The difference was me! Me setting the Project Properties to 48kHz - idiot!

Go stand in the corner, Grazie!

So now, I can open OLD V5 projects in V6 . .I can create V6 with ACID loops. No Stuttering. No pitting.

Mario, thank you . . . I should've rechecked my Project settings!

My best regards,

Graham "Grazie" Bernard

I'm glad you got it worked out Grazie.

What I've done is I now keep my dunce hat closer to my PC for just these kinds of occasions.
I was losing too much time going back and forth to the closet.

What d'yah fink eh?

I was reading a post here about storyboarding and I was idly viewing the details of the ACID loops and seeing the 44kHz sampling and thinking, "What would a Project need to do to resample . . and, well what DID/HAD I set my Proj Prefs at . . I'll go see! BOZO!" WHAT A total PLANK! - G

Wouldn't it be nice to have a feature that warns us about this?
Like: when you choose to show take names in events through Prefs', the take name could appear in red.
I know, after all this ranting after the release of V6, it can look sarcastic (which I'm not) to add *another* suggestion on top of it all but it's the kind of features that could be welcomed for a few of us (sure, including myself), no?

I get burned by this whenever I install a new version of Vegas.
I don't understand why Sony's default for the NTSC DV template is 44.1, not 48. Must be a holdover from Vegas' origin as a CD mastering app.

BTW, is there a way to save ALL my Vegas preferences (including default File Properties, Rendered File Folders, Default Preview Device, Workspaces, etc,) to a file, so I can just reimport it when I reinstall? I've done this with my keyboard mapping, but haven't found the right file for all these other settings.

EDIT: Ooops. Just saw the discussion about this down below. Well, let's consider this a feature request for V6.0c, then.
