One quick question.

First of all, hope everyone's holidays were great. My ADVC-100 arrives on Tuesday. I picked up a 3 port firewire card to plug it into. I will be using VF2 for my capturing in the DV format. After I do my render of anywhere from 45min. to 1hr. I was wondering how I am going to transfer this DV movie back out through my ADVC-100 to my svhs machine. Can anyone take a second and explain this to me? Thanks.

I don’t have the ADVC-100 but from what I understand, you just use Make Movie like you are printing back to DV tape but use manual controls when it asks about controlling the camcorder. Then when it sends the video out the firewire, the ADVC-100 converts it back to analog for your SVHS machine.

I wish I had one of these. I have the Pinnacle Systems Studio Deluxe board and they failed to mention that the drivers are proprietary and only work with their software. I’d trade it for a ADVC-100 any day. Good luck.

If you plan to write the rendered video back to DV tape anyway for permanent storage, you can record to your SVHS at the same time. Just connect the cable from the analog out port on the camcorder to the 'in' ports on your SVHS. Then, when you write to DV tape, you'll also write to the SVHS machine. You don't need the ADVC-100 in this case (that's why I bought the ADVC-50 which doesn't have analog out capability.)
