Oops...just a little mistake

Just passing along a little warning. I did something rather dumb and didn't notice it till now and it is very easy to do without realizing you did it.

As you know I'm a big fan of FX filters. I also prefer to adjust event by event which means I drag and drop the filters on whatever event I'm working on directly on the timeline. Usually everthing is fine, you drag and drop to the event and the filter is added to the plug-in chain of the EVENT. Rarely when I drag the filter it doesn't drop. So hehehe, I drag and drop again. So you're asking what's the problem? Well if the filter you drag don't 'drop' on the event you intended, it DOES take, it effect it gets added to the whole TRACK! Oh Vegas tells you by turning the track FX button green, but you may not notice right away like I didn't. Because normally I'm just looking at the EVENT FX buttons. So the net result is you can over compensate. Maybe its just me. Thought I'd pass it long, since I couldn't figure out immediately why one event just didn't "adjust" like it should and for some reason everything on the track looked a little off. Just something else to watch for. <wink>

A bit like passing a private remark in front of a live microphone, isn't it? The effect gets out of hand.

I wonder if THAT is how I ended up with over 100 LEVELS, the other day. Does this add it just to the track, or to each and every event in the project separately? Mine were separate, and had to be removed separately. BROTHER!

If a filter gets dropped on the track on purpose (header area, far left) or by mistake, like if it don't "drop" on a event, whatever effect the filter does gets applied to every event on the track. Of course this would be a problem with presets.

The main reason I noticed aside from the video looking "off" was the FX button on the track turned green. I didn't recall seeing that before, so I then clicked on the track FX button and surprise, surprise, some filters were there. I turned them off, and the look I wanted was restored.

Only reason I mentioned this is as we do things over and over you get into a routine where you really don't pay close attention. Isn't a bug, just human error. Mine. Maybe because I'm left-handed. LOL!
