hi guys.
I have a problem when i try to open/import a video file.
I can see the file in the media pool , but i can not add it to the any video track.
The file isn't corrupt becouse i can play it in windows media.
I dont have any problem with audio files , when i open/import an audio file , automaticly is added to the audio track.
what can i do to fix it?

Diego.

Hmmm... Start a new project and see if you open "another" video file . . let's get that one outta the way first - yeah?

just because you can view the video in Windows Media Player does not mean that it is compatible with Vegas. I was given some AVI files that came from a digitial still camera that records short 30 second videos. Played great in WMP but got only the audio in Vegas. It seems this video was recorded in the camera with an MJPEG codec which WMP has I guess but Vegas did not. I just had to download the right codec and then Vegas can handle it.

Just where did this video come from and what are the specific properties (CODEC) that were used?

L_V . .my thoughts too . . let's see if any "video" file plays in a
"new" Vegas project - yeah? I know the problems with AVI1 and AVI2 type files . . G

well , i'm using xvid video codec.
But i'm trying to open the same file that used to work before.
So,the problem isn't the video codec or the corrupt file.
Should i have to change something in properties?
thanks.

I have the same problem. Where can I download the codec? can you provide me a link?

I think that you should deselect the "ignore third part DV codec" and to enable the "Use Microsoft DV Codec" in order to load DV-AVI files that were encoded with non Vegas codecs.
Those settings are in options->preferences.

Did you try Udi's suggestion?

You could also try to "reset" to factory settings . . can't remember the procedure . . . remember though, you'll "loose" some of your hard won settings .. but maybe, in the place you are presently at, this MIGHT not be a bad thing - yeah?

Holding down the Shift & Ctrl keys while starting the program will reset ALL preferences, even those you really wanted changed.
