Opening a .veg - 'The item was not found.'

OK, so I left VEGAS to render overnight.

The project was 1 JPEG + 1 Motion Background + 2 Generated Text = 4 Tracks.

Basically the JPEG has a very slight Pan in. The Motion Background Pan/Crops in a slow circle. The 2 Generated Text Layers Scroll across the screen in opposite directions. The project is :30 secs long.

1st- This project takes @ 3hours to render.
2nd- This project conitnues to crash if I try to render all tracks at once.
3rd- The project would sometimes say it was complete but the text motion would just STOP before the end of the file.
4th- When I only rendered out the JPEG and the Background it was cool. I was hoping to then do another render and add my text layers but after being told that 'The System is dangerously low on resources. Close other applications to free up memory' (no other apps were running), it crashed. When I try to reopen the file it now says 'An error occurred while loading the project file. The item was not found.' <-- WTF?

I am creating a simple DVD Menu background. Since it is only 4 tracks it is easy to redo, but I would like to know what's going on or how to repair this in case it happens again. My program has 8 different sections and is 45 minutes long. If this were to happen on one of the other sections it definitely will not be an easy repair.

Has this ever happened to anyone? What's the cause? What's the cure?

System:
P4, 2.4Ghz, 1Gig DDR, Asus MoBo, XP Pro, VEGAS 4e

Thanks in Advance,
Lamont

What in the world are you rendering to? Or on? Machine specs don't indicate anything that would make sense with this. Sounds like there is something not right with the machine at all. Rendering this shouldn't take longer than about 5 mins if it's a standard DV file. Are you accessing information via a network?
Definitely doesn't sound like a Vegas issue. Just for giggles, while I was typing this, I rendered 10 sec of vid, a track motion'd jpg over a QT and two titles. This rendered while I was typing on a 1.4 gig laptop.
