Opportunity for New Monitors

I have searched the forum and read quite a few threads about which monitor to get etc. and am having trouble coordinating all of the info.

I have the desire and the opportunity to buy two 24" monitors and advocates for acer, samsung, viewsonic, dell etc. conflict in their info and there are ALOT of opinions. I can spend around $300 to $350 per monitor and am prepared to buy a Spyder 3 Pro for calibration.

In my area I have a Fry's, Best Buy, Tiger Direct (now CompUSA), but am willing to order (new egg, dell, etc.) to get the right monitors. I have visited all of the above stores and compared products. From opinions on this forum (even allowing for "trolls" in the posts) quality, no matter what the company, seems variable .

I would like any and all constructive input on how to focus on buying a monitor and would appreciate specific recommendations and endorsements.

Thanks.

If I were you, I would buy one ok or good monitor where you have your Vegas timeline etc, Browser and so on (colors not important), and one better / very good monitor where you can preview your videos, photos etc (colors important).

Don't leave the latest Dell 24" monitors out of the running. Certainly not top shelf but they seem to be the best of the cheapies.

If you've got deeper pockets and want a reasonable monitor then the HD Dreamcolor gets very good reviews. You do need to buy the specific calibration device, the Spyder doesn't work with this monitor I believe.

Thanks for the replies! Let's bump the money up to $500-$600 per 24" monitor - then waddaya think?

I'm looking at the Dell Ultrasharp U2410.

All input/experience/recommendations appreciated.

I've had nothing but great luck with the high-end Dell LCD monitors.
