Hi all
I have just got a avchd camera and will from now on store my content on hardrive. I will also transfere all my DV contet to the same place. So I wounder how do you keep this serchable and organized? Is there a software where you can add metadata to the clips and make it searchable and may be create playlists to import in to vegas project? Or could this even be done in vegas even thus I havent seen it?
How do you keep organized?
Regards
Bengt

You can do what you want in Media Manager with one BIG caveat...no subclips. So if you captured a 30 minute clip, you can only add tag info for the entire 30 minute clip. I also remember someone (JR maybe?) saying that Media Manager tops out at about 5000 clips (i think it was?) clips per media manager library file as it takes a performance hit.

I do it the reliable, old fashioned DOS way:
a) put things in folders that make sense. Make subfolders, etc.
b) give everything a meaningful name. Using an app to organize things is useless unless you use that app. I can find whatever I need on my drives in Windows or Linux because I made a logical drive structure.

Yup, agree completely. Since Vegas' primary media interface is in fact a Windows Explorer window showing directories and file names, it makes complete sense to organize meaningful file names in meaningful directories. Nothing else is required that way.

I will give Media Manager a nod in that it lets you search by topic/style/genre/etc. but even this can me accomplished with careful naming of your files and folders to begin with.
