OT: 1) Best'Still cam for video? 2) CCD or CMOS ?

In addition to our video cam's we are considering a 'still' cam that can also capture good video.

Which cam do you you guys suggest we look at? Budget is around $1k... more or less.

The issue... As I understand it most 'Still' cam's use a CMOS sensor.

That can create the "rolling shutter" or "jello" effect when shooting things in motion because each individual sensor on the CMOS chip captures light one after the other... then saves the frame.

While the individual sensors on a CCD chip all capture light at the same instant.

Thanks for sharing your comments.

So lemme see if I understand.

1. You want a cheap camera.
2. You want it to capture video like an expensive camera
3. You also want it to take good stills.

What exactly do you need this camera to do? Meaning, what kind of subject(s) do you plan to film with it? It makes something of a difference.

PerroneFord,

This reminds me of the guy who in days gone by asked...

So lemme see if I understand...
1. You want a cheap computer.
2. And you want it to work as good as an IBM or Dec
3. And you want it to fit on your desk top?
And, of course, the answer is "Yes we do!"

:)
