No wonder one computer manufacturer built its own PDF handling into the OS.

Everybody else should just use a 3rd party reader, as recommended by several people here.

Adobe has been trying to win market share through massive feature intimidation far beyond what 99% of users need.

Agreed.

I work in a huge document production environment. We are the 1% that has become cornered by the Adobe Pro 9 product. For everyone else, it's massive overkill.

I use the free PDF-XChange Viewer. I think it’s better than FoxitReader.
