I have three (3) of the Western Digital Caviar Green WD10EACS 1TB 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drives and they are great. The only difference is the 16MB cache vs the 32MB cache but mine have been very stable and very quiet. I may pick up a few more at this price.

I have the WD Caviar Black WD1001FALS. Not sure how identical it is, but the drive is very fast and fairly quiet. It is $119.99 with free shipping from Newegg.

I've got two that I bought from Newegg. About 2 months old and flawless so far.

I remember my first audio editing computer. I paid $1000 for a 1GB hard drive. Ah the good old days of SAW, Software Audio Workshop. No windows install. A 2MB program that ran from the exe file!

Now you can get 1000 times more storage for 10 times less money. Mechanical disk driver manufacturers aren't going to go down to SSD's without a fight.

Competition is good.
