OT - Alpha Video

I have seen some websites which has a short video clip come in either at the top or bottom of the page.
It has someone talking for a few seconds and fades back out.

Can any advise how this is done. We have a church site where the minister wants to add this to a couple of their pages.

Sounds like something done with FLV or SWF files. Are you looking for the Pastor to fade in without a background behind him so all you see is him and the web page? If so this is done with an alpha channel. Film your Pastor in front of a green screen or blue screen. Edit in Vegas. Then find some software that will let your render to SWF with a alpha channel and your green or blue green will disapear and be clear so all you will see is the Pastor.
