OT: Alternative .mov player to Quicktime?

craftech wrote on 5/16/2005, 7:00 AM
Every time I have installed Quicktime over the years I have ended up uninstalling it (same with Real player) because both of them insist on ignoring preferences during a custom install. Both want to take over when you don't want them to, or run when you don't want them to, or access the internet when you don't want them to. Quicktime has always seemed to cause functionality problems with versions of media player and even with system resources at times.

Will anything less intrusive play .mov files?

use "Media Player Classic" with the QT plug-in

also works with REAL Alternative ..

I use Real Alternative & Quicktime Alternative players. I think they use the same codecs but have all the junk that goes with them removed or disabled. They install Media Player Classic for use when playing .ra & .mov files "standalone"

You can find links to them here

I love Media Player Classic. It looks like Media Player 6 but it's much better. I use it for everythingbut audio files now.

Thanks.
That look like just the ticket.
