The EX continues to please me with its ability to "get the shot". The sort of thing mentioned in the review above: nice graduation of tones with excellent detail, wide latitude, good lens (nice manual control), pleases me with its "film like" images. I've even found its auto functions work well in situations needing those. The small buttons can be a nuisance but I've adapted to those. Would have liked labels engraved rather than printed, because the printed tends to wear off (as mentioned by http://provideocoalition.com/index.php/awilt/story/review_sony_pmw_ex1_1_2_3_cmos_hd_camcorder/P5/Adam Wilt[/link], which I confirm). There are users finding what they think are imaging faults when the camera is stressed, but its excellence is seen in all the shorts that have been posted (ie in actual working situations).

I'll tell you just how good this camera is. I'm a pretty poor amateur cameraman compared to my editing experience, and as many of you will know I have been totally confused by the enormous rang of adjustments this camera has, but I have not taken one bad looking shot and 9 out of 10 shots I can't improve with CC. Compared to the Z1/FX1 it has so much latitude - I feel like saying it is very forgiving but it is more than that. It really is (as long as you do not overexpose) like this camera has a mind of its own and knows just what you want. Also the DOF is more than enough for me and as Serena says getting away from those stupid servos to a real lens is a joy.
