OT: Anyone looking for storyboard software...

FrameForge 3D is a fantastic choice. Their version 2 (they're on 2.5 now) blew the roof off of what you can do in a genuine, previz, 3-d environment.

What has me all hot and bothered is that I recently had a problem and they fixed the bug and posted a new build within a 36-hour period of time. Excellent customer service.

Highly recommend them if you are looking for a reasonably affordable SB app. (And , no, I have nothing to do with the company, nor do I make a penny from them - just trying to pass along a great resource to the forum).

I have FrameForge and like it, but I also have Antics 2.5 which has other strengths.

Antics does full intelligent animation, while FrameForge just does a very very basic tweening.

In Antics, you can tell an actor to walk from his current location to a floor marker, and on arrival face the direction indicated by the floor marker.

Plenty more. How come? It started out as a video game engine...

In Antics, you can easily create a whole animated movie to use in selling your script idea. They also have pretty impressive libraries of characters and objects, and these libraries are free. If that's not enough, it can import 2D images and 3D models from standard apps.

Didn't the Hollywood Works people use Antics? Good heads-ups about Antics, I must remember to suggest them to a couple of "writers" I know.

Re Antics, what pulled me in was seeing a short film created by a film director to sell his idea to investors. He knew nothing about previz or 3D, but it took him only 14 days to create his animated film about an unusual bank robbery.

He-he! I remembered him, because I just had my pint of Nariño Supreme from Colombia via Starbucks, one of their better coffees in a long time imho.

Of course I use a hand-cranked wooden grinder (available on eBay) that does the daily grind for me just right :O).

Coursedesign, did you look at the video on the other thread about "making a music video"? I only looked at one video, but it needs a lot of serious roto tools, spills are bad, ..... looks more of an advance tools project, more than an FCP, vegas, or type NLE project. What do you think? Color app for the finish is a must!?

Even without downloading the multiple gigabytes of video, there's one indication that the chroma keying will be less than an unmitigated joy: "DV25".

Blech!

FCP has plug-ins that can make it quite usable for chroma keying, but even putting lipstick on the, umm, DV25, can only help so much.
