8.0c doesn't work with the "Latest" QT. You have to revert back to an older version. Vegas pro 9.0e was updated to properly work with the latest.

Okay,

Although everythng else seems to work in this version of QT with Vegas 8.0c. Do the older versions of QT support Prores for Windows?

I will probably just go with the Animation codec. That seems to be working.

Thanks for the help.

The ProRes codec does not come with QT, it is a separate download and installation. I believe that the codec available for the PC only allows you to read ProRes files, not create them.

John,

The latest version of QT includes the read only Prores codec.

Thanks, good to know. Although I am always reluctant to install the latest version of QT, it usually seems to break something.

Back-rev to QT 7.6.2. You'll be able to read ProRes files fine, and do everything else. Newer versions break the ability to either view .mov files (Black video), and/or break the ability for you to create .mov files in Vegas because it crashes when you select the audio tab in render settings.

7.6.2 is what you're looking for and it works perfectly. I've used it in Vegas 8 and Vegas 9 (32 and 64bit) without issue.

What happens to the QT Pro registration? Will it stay when QT reverts backward?
Former user wrote on 6/22/2010, 4:16 PM
Actually, the current version fixed the audio rendering problem. But I guess it didn't fix the black video problem.

I hate reverting back so I will just stay with the basic codecs.

Thanks,

Ah, that's why my QT are black. Forgot about that, I had to reinstall my machine from scratch a few weeks ago.

Is there a link to 7.6.2?

I found the link to 7.6.

I am assuming it will take my Pro license key

Yay! I'm back again. My Pro registration works fine with the 7.6.2 version.
