Hi,
I am needing to set up a video archiving method that can store video for editing. A database system that would allow me to search through and pull a clip to put into a project. Or burn to a DVD. And it has to be compressed a degree. We'll be obtaining about 1 hour of video per week.
My first question. Is there any kind of system already invented for this?
My second question. What is a good high compression method to archive video for later editing?
I understand that MPEG2 isn't the greatest editing format out there. And I also wonder how recompression to a DVD would affect the video. Getting a terabyte RAID5 server each year to store video isn't within our price range yet.
Any suggestions?
