Are you sure you didn't create a multi-session disk? Multi-session disks allow additional data to be added to the disk later, but other machines can't always read the disks.

No, just went back and checked, this is set for one session only.

I wrote this with Veritas RecordNow V4.5. Never have trouble sharing with other PC users - can't recall if I've ever provided an avi on a DVD for a Mac user before...

I've certainly given Mac users AVI files on DVDs and used RecordNow however I think only the later versions of the Mac OS can read them, same goes for FCP, early versions would not read AVI files.

You can invest in MacDrive, I recall something in their blurb saying it would create DVD data disks that early Macs could read. I think maybe they couldn't read UDF, something like that.

I've been giving this client avi files on an external HD, which he can open in both iMovie and FCP4. He can't even see the files on the DVD... Strange..
