You gotta love the BBC... Has anyone turned up the volume on the BBC media player in that link???

It goes up to 11.

From the BBC site:

Cannot play media. Sorry, this media is not available in your territory.

Someone out there doesn't like me.

Yes, unfortunately much of the content on the BBC website isn't available outside the UK. I'm not sure if the BBC doesn't want to make it available world-wide, or if it just isn't allowed to do so because of the way the BBC is financed. (All of us here in the UK who watch TV have to make a contribution, known as the TV license fee. Someone, either the BBC or the government, I don't know which, doesn't think people outside the UK shouldn't be able to get at the content for free.)

However, I'm told that it is possible to view this material from places outside the UK simply by using a proxy located in the UK. You may be able to find the IP address of a suitable free uk proxy if you search the web.

johnmeyer,
I hear your pain (on the olympics too). In the Bahamas, I can watch BBC, CBS and download from Itunes and Emusic. Cannot watch NBC or FOX and can't download from Amazon.
Some websites think I'm in the US, others in Latin America and I can't read Spanish, a few even assume that I must be in Canada (well, other than America, thats the only other country right?).

Try a different browser - here in Oz, the link didn't work in Opera*, but was fine in IE7.

- thanks Grazie - I'm sure I recognized you in one of those shots, making a phone call.

* edit - that was yesterday - today it works in Opera too...

Worked for me with Firefox here in California. Pretty cool stuff.

On a similar note, here is the air traffic over the US in a 24 hour period.

The bandwidth available in Madagascar does not allow me to enjoy pleasures like that online. But I buy BBC DVDs from UK, have them delivered to Norway and then brought down here in the suitcase of one of the many experts who participate in the program my wife is co-ordinating. Last year I loved the Coast series - wonderful stuff, even with the ever-present Geordie character.
Can't wait to get my hands on the new series.
(Anyway - off to see the whales off the isle of Saint Marie tomorrow :-)
