OT: Been gone for a bit.

For those that haven't noticed, I have been gone for a while. I have been getting some emails checking on me to make sure nothing happened to me. So before I get any more, I figured I would share what I have been through over the last month.

Unfortunately, I was hit by a drunk driver and suffered some cuts and a broken leg and a torn ACL. I will most probably have a noticeable limp the rest of my life. But thankfully, I still have my life.

All of the things I was working on (Troutman documentary, getting ready to start grad school, sub teaching) has been put on definite hold.

I plan to make the most of my time being laid up by educating myself further with After Effects and Boris Red. Just never had the time to learn them the way I needed to before now.

I will probably try to scrape up some cash (thanks to a uninsured driver who is in jail thank god) I look forward to getting Vic's "Light It Right" DVD and maybe DSE's V6 training. But I am sure by the time I heal and recover, V7 will be here.

I would love to come up with some ideas to produce some sort of show for the net since AI am stuck in the bed for a bit and then the house after that. I would definitely welcome any ideas to help keep me occupied.

Thank you to all who checked up on me. It really means a lot to be remembered and missed.

Thanks Gary. But hey, if anyone has those DVDs they wouldnt mind lending me, that would be awesome.

Not much else to do since I am stuck in a bed.

Other than that, Im just waiting patiently for Serious Magic to actually come out with demos of DVRack with HDV and for Ultra 2. I seriously cannot understand why that company can release a product and then take two months or more to release a demo of it. Surely it doesnt take an eternity to build expiration code into a program.

I received an e-mail from Serious Magic that the Ultra 2 demo is now available (even though I already bought it!):

Dear ULTRA User,

That's a truley tragic experiance. In Sweden we have a very high sence of responsability concerning DUI and thus realtivly low statistics in that area.
There is simply never, ever any excuse for it.
Would this subject matter be too close too soon to explore as a project for you?
Unfortunatly I have no particular angle to suggest as to how to approch it though.
Mayby we could make a team effort of it here on the forum?

Very best vibes to you on a fast recovery!

Yeah it would be a little too soon for me to try and do a project about it. Not just because I still cant even walk yet but as once would guess, it was really traumatic for me. I think it will be quite a long while before I will ever climb into a car and feel safe and comfortable.

While painful, I only see it as a small setback in my goals and one that I will overcome in time. Just sucks because of the Roger Troutman project I was to begin working on.

No kidding. Do drunkies get a police file when they're caught doing harm like this in US? I mean, a *file*, ie you don't get into all the countries you'd like without being rejected anymore, you have a hard time finding a job, you are considered on the same status as a bank robber or a murderer in some hard cases (and your case is not so far from that case) ???
It's a "hard, right wing position", but hell did it save LOTS of lives over here in the past years. And made the taxi drivers happy.

Get well very soon and in *top* shape pm...

Sorry to hear about your "accident" (I put it in quotes because causing damage while driving drunk is anything but an accident) but I'm glad that you apparently will have an almost-full recovery.

Here in Oregon we are required to have uninsured motorist insurance, so if the bozo that hits us is uninsured, at least there will be insurance SOMEWHERE to cover the costs. The irony is that this state is so mismanaged by tree-huggers that they refuse to adequately fund the police and prison system. Then the local judges get involved and say that it's unfair to the prisoners to have crowded prisons, and force the authorities to release all but the most dangerous perpetrators. As a result, drunks and thieves get back out in a matter of days or even hours... Sheer idiocy.

Since you're bedridden, it seems appropriate to do some video editing on a laptop!
